Our Story
Stacy’s girlfriend, Talibah, called her one March night and said ‘let’s go to Music & Martini Thursday’s in what is now George Brett’s on the Plaza. Bennett and his friend Jonathan also went to the event at the same restaurant and that’s were we met. Bennett introduced himself to Stacy and they exchanged business cards. They parted ways only to meet up later that same night at Niece’s nightclub.
Stacy’s first impression of Bennett was that he was overly cocky and full of himself. In hindsight, Bennett thinks that it was due to cultural differences between the East Coast and the Midwest. Bennett made it point to keep in touch by sending periodic emails and calling Stacy at work once in a while. Stacy was still leery.
Nine months after the initial meeting, they met for lunch on Christmas Eve 2003 at Thai Place, Bennett’s favorite restaurant, in Westport. Lunch was fantastic and they both enjoyed the conversation, but a second date was not scheduled. Instead, Stacy gave Bennett her home phone number this time.
Their next date was after The New Year of 2004 and this time it included dinner at a Caribbean restaurant and a trip to Saint Louis, and as they say, the rest is ‘history’!
Bennett was born in Philadelphia, PA and has lived in Connecticut, South Carolina, Atlanta, Overland Park, and now the Washington D.C. area. He has two older brothers and one younger sister. Bennett’s brother, Everett, will be his Best Man at their wedding.
Stacy was born in Kansas City, Kansas and spent most of her life there until July 2006 when she picked up and moved to the Washington DC area to be closer to Bennett. She has a younger brother, Sean, who is married with two boys. Stacy will have Talibah be her Maid of Honor since she caused all this madness!
